Our Story
Kim was born in Newport, TN. She went to Del Rio school until 5th and moved to White Pine in the late 1970's. Since, her parents have moved back to the community and are very involved, which gave Kim a strong and unbreakable attachment to Del Rio. She attended high school at Jefferson County, nursing school at Walters State & East Tennessee State University, and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001. Kim graduated ETSU with the Dean's award for the highest GPA in her graduating class of advanced practice nurses in 2001. She has 27 years experience as a Registered Nurse and 20 years experience as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her experience includes Emergency Room NP, Gastroenterology, Behavioral Health, and hospitalist NP.
It's no secret that the Del Rio community has a lack of healthcare providers. On an afternoon trip to Lake Lure, NC, in the Fall of 2014 with her cousin, Tina Reece, mom, Margaret Willis, and close friend, Gail Sawyer, the subject of a free clinic came up. Tina, who is a Registered Nurse, was so enthusiastic about the project, how could she say 'No?!" Tina, Margaret, and many others worked diligently to make this possible. We received donations from local churches and even churches as far away as Georgia. Needless to say, we were overwhelmed by the amazing support of this community.
Here we are, 8 years later in our own building with a full primary care practice. We accept nearly all insurance plans and still offer low-cost visits.
Our primary focus at the clinic is keeping you well. Kim has a special interest in integrative and functional medicine, and she will attempt to help you find ways to avoid medications when possible. She is fully qualified to diagnose and treat all primary care issues with medications when needed. The most common issues we treat include high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypothyroidism, common acute illnesses such as sinus infections, sore throats, flu, pneumonia, sutures, EKG, spirometry (lung function test), hearing tests, sports physicals, and much more. We do not receive any type of government funding and are not a non-profit facility, so we thank you so much for your support and for trusting us as your healthcare provider. Whether it's primary care or an urgent need, we are happy to help everyone.
If you know someone who is in need, who does not have insurance or the money for a low-cost visit and they have a Del Rio address (proof of income and address required), please don't hesitate to call and ask if we can help. We try to not forget our primary reason for being here....
